2016 Symposium on Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
Learning In and Across Disciplines
Nov 10-12, 2016
Considerations for review of proposals
All proposals will be double-blind reviewed by at least two experienced SoTL practitioners for relevance, quality of scholarship, clarity of outcomes, and how the presentation will interest an interdisciplinary SoTL audience.
Workshop proposals will only be considered if they include a plan for audience engagement / interactivity.
Reviewers will use the following questions to guide their review of proposals:
Relevance:
- Is this an example of, or useful to, scholarship of teaching and learning?
- Does this proposal represent scholarship that would be of interest to SoTL practitioners?
- Does this proposal relate to one of the conference tracks?
- Is the track identified by the author appropriate for the proposal?
Quality of Scholarship:
- Does this proposal seem to draw upon sufficient knowledge of the field, as evidenced by the bibliography?
- Is the overall quality of the proposal what you would expect from a SoTL symposium?
Clarity of Outcomes:
- Tracks 1,2,3,4: Does this proposal clearly identify a research question / operational design challenge and offer a solution?
- Track 5: Does this proposal clearly discuss applications of specific research approaches, methods and/or theoretical frameworks?
- Track 6: Does this proposal clearly identify a research question / operational design challenge, list the author's expertise and needs, and call for collaborators?
- Workshops: Does this proposal clearly articulate a plan for audience engagement?
