Transportation

Please note that our Pre-Symposium Workshops will be held at Mount Royal University in Calgary AB on November 10, 2010 – separate registration and lodging required.

The Centennial Symposium on Scholarship of Teaching and Learning will be held at the Banff Park Lodge in Banff AB (90-minutes west of Calgary) on November 11-13, 2010.

Getting to Calgary

By Air:  Located in Calgary’s northeast quadrant, Calgary International Airport (YYC) is served by more than twenty airlines with direct flights to many major national and international cities.

By Car:  Calgary is located in southern Alberta along the Trans Canada Highway (Alberta 1) between Banff and Medicine Hat AB, south of Edmonton on Alberta 2.  From the US, take Interstate 15 (becomes Alberta 4, 3, and 2) north from Sunburst MT.

Getting to Mount Royal University

Located in the southwest quadrant of the city, Mount Royal University is at 4825 Mount Royal Gate SW, Calgary AB.

By Car:  Mount Royal University can be reached from two major highways, Crowchild Trail and Glenmore Trail.

By Public Transportation:  Mount Royal University can be accessed by bus from various city transit hubs, see Calgary Transit for details.

By Taxi:  Several taxi companies serve the greater Calgary Metropolitan Area. There is a taxi stand at the Calgary Innarnational Airport and from other locations you can get the first available by dialing #TAXI.

Getting to Banff

By Car:  Banff AB is due west of Calgary AB approximately 130 km (90 minutes) on the Trans Canada Highway (Alberta 1), or due east of Kamloops BC approximately 500 km (6.5 hours) on the Trans Canada Highway (BC 1).  Because the city of Banff is located within Banff National Park, those driving to the Symposium will be required to pay a park fee upon entry.

By Shuttle:  For those flying to Calgary, not renting a car, and travelling directly to Banff from the Calgary International Airport we have secured a special rate with the Banff Airporter, which offers ten shuttle trips each day.  To make a reservation, click here.

For those attending the Pre-Symposium Workshops being held at Mount Royal University on November 10, 2010 transportation will be provided from Mount Royal University to the Banff Park Lodge in Banff, Alberta by Shuttle. Please note that this is one way transport. Symposium participants will be responsible for return to Calgary either by car-pooling or booking with the Banff Airporter.
